Trent Boult returned to the World Cup in a spectacular manner, pinning Reeza Hendricks for leg-before on Monday during New Zealand’s warm-up fixture against South Africa, taking place at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

The 34-year-old, who is no longer in New Zealand's central contract list, was picked for the showpiece event to reap rewards for his side. And he delivered in his first outing, bowling a good length delivery against Hendricks which nipped back in sharply.

Hendricks, coming in place of Temba Bavuma, who went to South Africa due to family reasons, failed to tackle it properly before the ball hit his pad. As soon as the appeal for LBW came, on-field umpire took little time before raising his finger.

Chasing 322, South Africa, at the time of writing, are 20/1 in 4.4 overs, with Rassie van der Dussen and Quinton de Kock in middle, batting on 12* and 7* respectively.

Earlier in the innings, Devon Conway top-scored with a 73-ball 78 before taking retired hurt. Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips, and Kane Williamson batted beautifully as well, as New Zealand finished on 321/6 in their allotted 50 overs.
