Bangladesh were in early trouble on Monday (October 2) during their World Cup warm-up fixture against England, taking place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Tanzid Hasan steadied the ship, adding 52 runs for the third wicket before an excellent delivery from Mark Wood ended Tanzid’s stay after a brilliant 44-ball 45.

Despite Tanzid’s departure, Mehidy did not fail to carry on the momentum. Prior to the second rain delay of the day, the Bangladeshi all-rounder, batting at No. 4, reached 60 off 74 balls while hitting eight fours to help his team reach 153/5 in 30 overs.

The highlight of Mehidy’s knock was the one drive he played against Adil Rashid during the 29th over of Bangladesh’s innings. It was a floated delivery by Rashid pitched at full length, which Mehidy, down on one knee, played over cover for a gorgeous four.

Along with Mehidy, Towhid Hridoy is in the middle for Bangladesh at the time of writing. For England, Reece Topley was the pick of the bowler, taking 2/18 off his three overs, while Wood picked up the other one.
