A lot of top-notch batsmen around the world still dream of what Shoriful Islam did against Jasprit Bumrah on Thursday (October 19). The Bangladeshi international smacked a glorious six against the ace paceman, that too over extra cover.

It happened on the last ball of Bangladesh’s innings against the Men in Blue in the World Cup game in Pune. Bumrah went for a yorker, and Shoriful gave himself ample room before lofting it over extra cover region in an attempt for a fitting finish.

It all went perfectly for the left-hander as the ball sailed over the boundary rope.

Bumrah had a wry smile on his face, considering it was so perfect last over until that blow. Yet, he finished with excellent figures of 10–1-41-2, and continued to lead the top wicket-takers’ chart in the competition.

It is important to mention that Shoriful became the third player overall to hit a six against Bumrah in the 50th over. David Willey and Kyle Jamieson were the others, although none of them managed to hit on the last ball of the innings.

Notably, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah, two of the veterans of Bangladesh, were Bumrah's victims on Thursday.

Bangladesh, riding on Shoriful’s monstrutous hit at the end, finished their innings on 256/8. The Tigers were delighted with the redemption of Litton Das, who scored 66 off 82 balls to set the tone.
