Veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi delivered a match-winning performance playing for Pakistan Champions against Australia Champions at the World Championship of Legends 2024 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. 

Earlier in the match, Pakistan Champions won the toss and elected to bowl first. Chasing a target of 190, they needed 21 runs in 12 balls when Shahid Afridi arrived at the crease. 

The veteran all-rounder played an impactful innings and scored 11 runs off five balls, which included two boundaries, and with this, Pakistan Champions won the match by five wickets.

The 47-year-old contributed with the bat and also picked up two crucial wickets of Ben Cutting and Tim Paine on back-to-back deliveries but failed to complete a hattrick. 

Pakistan Champions captain Younis Khan also played a commendable knock and scored 63 runs off 41 balls along with Misbah ul Haq, who also played a significant role and made 46 runs in 30 balls.

 In the next match, Pakistan Champions will face the West Indies Champions on June 4, 2024. 

WCL is a six-team tournament where players past come along and play for their national teams. The teams participating in the tournament are India Champions, West Indies Champions, Pakistan Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions and England Champions. 

In earlier tournament action, India Champions secured a three-wicket victory over England Champions in the opening game.
