Sanju Samson smashed a gritty half-century on Sunday when India met Zimbabwe in Harare for one last time in the five-match T20I series. However, he failed to pull off a similar show to Virat Kohli, who used to finish things off after anchoring the innings.
Laced with one four and four sixes, Samson smashed 58 off 44 balls with a strike rate under 130. He needed to shift the gear in the end, and Zimbabwe’s ace speedster Blessing Muzarabani was equally smart to deal with him.
Samson Holes Out To Flying Marumani After Gritty Knock
It was an off-pace delivery by Muzarabani, which Samson tried to pull hard. However, the timing was not there at all before Tadiwanashe Marumani took an excellent diving catch after running quickly from deep mid-wicket region.
Unsurprisingly, Samson kept his head down while walking back to the pavilion, as he knew he had a golden opportunity to prove himself here, but failed to make that happen in reality.
At the time of writing this, Zimbabwe are 2/1 after 0.5 overs, with India posting 167/6 on the board.
