Rohit Sharma hurt his fingers on Sunday (October 22) during India’s high-voltage World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand in Dharamsala. Immediately following, the Men in Blue captain had to leave the field, and KL Rahul took over the leadership duties as the team's temporary captain.

It all happened when Rohit Sharma tried to stop the shot from Daryl Mitchell, who played a beautiful drive towards mid-off to punish Mohammed Siraj. Rohit tried to stop it and save it successfully, but by the outfield, he hurt his finger.

Rohit did not take any chances and left the field, with Shardul Thakur coming in as the substitute fielder.

However, Rohit seemed relaxed while walking off the field, and a few overs later, he came back with sunglasses on. It brought much delight to the spectators, considering his red-hot form in the ongoing edition.

Meanwhile, having been put into bat, New Zealand recovered from their early blows against Jasprit Bumrah and Co. The Black Caps, as of writing, have reached 65/2 after 16 overs, with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell in the middle.
