The first of the five-Test between India and England got underway this morning at Hyderabad, and captain Ben Stokes after winning the toss, expressed no hesitation in batting first on a dry-looking Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium pitch.

Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett did provided England with a swift start, adding 55 runs for the first wicket, but once spinners came into the attack, the batting started to crack open.

Ollie Pope, who has lately been England's most trusted No.3 in Tests, came out to bat after the fall off Duckett's wicket and looked unsure during his 11-ball stay.

After surviving a close stumping call off Ravindra Jadeja, Pope managed to give his wicket for one against the wilt left-arm spinner.

Jadeja, unlike his earlier deliveries, provided a bit of flight to the ball, which enticed Pope to commit on the front foot, where the English batter ended up giving a catch to first slip, where a diving Rohit Sharma took a sharp catch.
