Having gained a 1-0 lead, Australia locked horns with the West Indies in the second and final Test at Brisbane today, which is a day/night encounter and sees the home side field an XI with Cameron Green.

For the uninitiated, Green contracted the Covid-19 virus on Wednesday along with head coach Andrew McDonald, and they were isolated from the other players and staff members.

However, Cricket Australia (CA) opted to name their playing XI on the eve of the match, with Green included, following which the all-rounder took the field at Gabba today, keeping in mind social distancing norms.

During the national anthem, Green could be seen standing away from other Australian players, much like a fielder would in a gully position, distanced from the slip cordon.

Green's inclusion has raised concerns over player health and welfare, who also suffers from a kidney disease.

Another Australian player, Travis Head, who contracted COVID-19 during the first Test at Adelaide, tested negative for the dreaded virus on two separate occasions, which paved the way for his inclusion.

As per the International Cricket Council (ICC), a player who tests positive for COVID can play cricket if the concerned medical staff approves. Last year, Matthew Renshaw also featured for Australia in the Sydney Test against South Africa.

As of writing, the West Indies are 9 for 0, with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul batting on 4* and 5*, respectively.
