[Watch] Rohit Sharma Plucks a Stunning Catch as Axar Patel Dismisses Mehidy Hasan

Riding on bowlers' exceptional performance, India had a dream start in their ongoing Asia Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh. After opting to bowl first, the Men in Blue quickly reduced the Tigers to 28 for three in 5.4 overs, with Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur rattling the Bangladeshi top order. 

But after Anamul Haque departed as the third wicket, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan tried to steady the ship by forming a consolidating stand. However, their efforts eventually went in vain, as Axar Patel dismissed Miraz, thanks to a spectacular fielding effort from skipper Rohit Sharma. 

Notably, Miraz had two lucky escapes, with Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav dropping two simple chances on consecutive deliveries. However, he wasn't lucky for the third time, as Sharma held on to a sharp chance to dismiss him. 

The incident occurred in the 14th over when Patel was introduced from one end in order to break the budding stand between Shakib and Miraz. The left-arm spinner didn't disappoint his captain, as he got rid of the latter to conclude the over. 

It was a good length delivery, which turned sharply, taking a thick outside edge off Miraz's bat. Sharma, stationed in the first slip, dived to his right to pluck a sharp low catch. 

As of writing, Bangladesh are 71 for four in 18 overs, with Shakib and Towhid Hridoy batting on 28* and 13*, respectively.
