After securing a historic win against Pakistan, Afghanistan had an impressive start to their sixth World Cup game against Sri Lanka in Pune. Bowling first, the Afghans jolted the Lankans with a massive blow, as Fazalhaq Farooqi got rid of Dimuth Karunaratne. Although Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis formed a consolidating stand, ace spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman provided Afghanistan with a crucial breakthrough, getting rid of the latter in the 28th over. 

Bowling his eighth over, Mujeeb started on a positive note, conceding consecutive singles on his first three deliveries. On his next delivery, he lured Mendis to play a big shot, bowling a loopy googly around the middle stump line. 

The batter fell in his trap, as he hit it straight to the hands of Najibullah Zadran, stationed at deep mid wicket. 

Mendis' wicket held paramount importance for Afghanistan, as he looked well-set for a big score. As if this wasn't enough, the experienced spinner trapped Sadeera Samarawickrama plumb in front of the stumps to put Afghanistan in the driving seat. 

As of writing, Sri Lanka are in a spot of bother, placed at 154 for four in 34.1 overs, with Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva unbeaten on 7* and 9*, respectively.
