After the Blackcaps' narrow defeat against Australia in the 2023 World Cup match, their skipper Kane Williamson is expected to return in the 32nd match of the tournament, against South Africa.

Williamson only played against Bangladesh, where he sustained a thumb injury while batting. It has been almost two weeks since his injury, and according to reports, the captain is likely to make a comeback in the 32nd match of the 2023 World Cup between South Africa and New Zealand at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

The New Zealand skipper seems to be going through a rough patch. Before the broken thumb injury, he also suffered a knee injury in the IPL 2023 opener against Chennai Super Kings. However, the 33-year-old batsman is seen practicing in the nets and is likely to play against the Proteas on Wednesday, 1st November.

Nevertheless, New Zealand's coach shared some news on Kane Williamson's comeback, saying,

“He had a light training session, but he’ll be practicing on Monday and the following day, aiming to be ready for the game. Whether he plays depends on how well he progresses in the next few days.”

As of now, the Blackcaps have won four matches and lost two, one against the host, India, in Dharamsala, and the other against Australia. They are now gearing up to face South Africa, who seem to be in good form in this World Cup.
