In a spectacular showcase of flamboyance and sheer power, Martin Guptill, representing the Southern Super Stars, rolled back the years in the Legends League Cricket 2024 final at the Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, against Konark Suryas Odisha. Known for his brutal hitting and sheer swagger, Guptill unleashed a shot that transported fans back to his glory days with New Zealand, demonstrating that some skills never fade away.

Vinay Kumar’s Length Ball Meets Guptill’s Audacious No-Look Brilliance

Martin Guptill took centre stage on the penultimate ball of the fifth over, bowled by former Karnataka and RCB pacer Vinay Kumar.

Seeing a length delivery pitched outside off, Guptill unleashed his might, dismissing the ball with a thunderous no-look six that sailed over deep square leg and into the crowd.

This moment was more than just a shot; it was an act of artistry and raw power, leaving the crowd as well as the commentators in awe of the veteran’s skills.

With a hint of his prime self, Guptill effortlessly swung through the line, sending the stadium into a frenzy. It was as if time had rewound to his New Zealand days, where he consistently delivered fireworks with his bat. As the ball disappeared into the stands, it was clear that Guptill’s years of experience still held plenty of firepower.

Irfan Pathan Dismisses Guptill Amidst His Fiery Knock in Srinagar

Although Guptill's sparkling cameo was cut short by the opposition captain, Irfan Pathan, who trapped him at 27 off 25 balls, his quickfire innings featured two boundaries and two sixes.

His brief yet impactful performance laid a solid foundation for the Southern Super Stars as they aimed to seize the Legends League Cricket title.

Masakadza and Negi Steer Southern Super Stars to Commanding Position

At the time of writing, Hamilton Masakadza and Pawan Negi have taken the baton from Guptill, building on his blistering start to lead the Super Stars toward a massive total.

Masakadza is at his blistering best with 63 off 41 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, while Negi has swiftly added 21 off 10. Together, they look set to push the team’s total past the 200-run mark in this high-stakes Legends League Cricket 2024 final.
