[Watch] KL Rahul’s 'Super-Duper Honesty' Ruins India’s Debatable Catch Celebration

KL Rahul has big responsibilities under his shoulders at SuperSport Park, Centurion, as the stylish batter had to bring stability in the middle order as well as keeping behind the stumps with the big gloves. At this point, the 31-year-old has done his job magnificently well, having scored a flamboyant century and followed it up with an error-free wicket-keeping till the Tea break of Day 2 of the first Test between India and South Africa.

Among many noteworthy moments, the one that grabbed the most attention happened during the 45th over of India’s innings.

Shardul Thakur bowled an inswing delivery outside the off-stump to David Bedingham, who got a thick bottom edge off his bat. The ball bounced just before Rahul, but to the naked eye, everyone thought it carried cleanly. Indians and Shardul were pumped, but Rahul immediately indicated it was not a catch.

The reply showed the same, as the ball dropped just before it went to Rahul’s gloves, resulting in Bedingham getting a lifeline.
