Joe Root is one of the best batters of this generation and outfoxing him in any format is not an easy task. Doing that when he is well set on 82 is even difficult task but Shoriful Islam with his classy slower delivery has completely bamboozled Root and has produced an important breakthrough for his side in a crucial World Cup game against England.

How Shoriful got rid of Joe Root?

It was the 42nd over of England’s innings and England with 307-3 were in full command of the game. Joe Root batting on 82 was looking to hit almost every ball out of the park, so it was an opportunity for Shoriful to bring his blend of varieties into the game and gets some wickets for his team. On the fifth delivery of the over, he bowled a short of good-length delivery, on middle. It was however, a knuckle delivery, a master slower one and Root who tried to whip it off his pads, played it early. That produced a big top edge and Mushfiqur Rahim behind the stumps took an easy catch.
