[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah Draws First Blood As KL Rahul Takes A ‘Jaw-Dropping’ Catch

Jasprit Bumrah is known for picking up wickets with the new ball. The ace fast bowler struck yet again on Wednesday (October 11) during India’s World Cup 2023 fixture against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

However, Bumrah might have had to wait a little longer if KL Rahul hadn't taken an outstanding diving catch.

It was the fourth delivery of the seventh over by Bumrah, which was a short-of-length ball pitched just outside the off stump. As Ibrahim Zadran attempted to defend, he only found a thin outside edge. The rest was done by KL Rahul, diving to his left to make it look like a straightforward catch.

Placed at first slip, Virat Kohli knew straightaway that the catch was clean, and he started running towards Bumrah to congratulate him. On the other hand, Bumrah made a celebratory gesture with his finger pointed to his head, similar to what Manchester United star Marcus Rashford does.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first. At the time of writing, they are 42/1 after 9.1 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran (22) returning back into the hut.
