Irfan Pathan is one of the names that Indian cricket would not forget easily. The all-rounder showed much promise during his early days and later developed into a skilled T20 bowler. Notably, Irfan was the player of the match in the final of India's first ever T20 World Cup win in 2007. Even though he is no longer a part of the professional cricketing circuit, the veteran all-rounder showed that his skills are not yet out of his circulation.

Irfan Pathan rescues his team with the bat

In the second Qualifier of the LLC 2024, Irfan Pathan displayed his brilliance with both the bat and the ball and took his team, the Konark Suryas Odhisha to the final of the tournament. During batting Pathan came out to bat at number six. With the score at 64/4, the pressure was on the Suryas. The southpaw played a captain's knock, scoring 49 runs off 35 deliveries. His knock powered the team to a fighting total of 156/5 at the end of their 20 overs. 

Irfan took the onus of the last over on himself

While defending the target, the match boiled down to a stage where 12 runs were needed off the last six deliveries. Irfan Pathan took up the responsibility and showed great nerves. He conceded 10 runs while picking up a wicket and leading his team to a one run victory. The way Irfan Pathan used his variations and deceived the batters showed the nerve and the experience of the player. 

Having won this match, the Konark Suryas Odhisha have qualified for the final of the tournament. They will be facing the Southern Super Stars in the summit clash on October 16.
