In the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Nat Sciver-Brunt dropped a crucial catch of RCB’s star batter Ellyse Perry near the boundary rope. The incident occurred during the third ball of the penultimate over in the RCB innings.

It was a full toss on offer from Amanjot Kaur and Perry, trying to hit it over the fence, only managed to find Sciver-Brunt who was stationed at deep mid-wicket. However, what should have been a regulation catch near the ropes turned into a missed opportunity as the English all-rounder appeared to be blinded by the stadium’s floodlights and failed to hold on, giving Perry a lifeline.

Perry Survives In A Bizarre Manner

Getting the most out of the lifeline, Perry made the opposition pay, smashing another couple of boundaries to make a total of 18 runs from the 19th over. The veteran Australian was at her explosive best and her late surge provided RCB with a much needed boost to finish their innings well.

Mumbai Indians Eye WPL Final Berth

Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first in the last league match of the season, RCB posted a formidable total of 200-run target in front of Mumbai Indians. Captain Smriti Mandhana got back amongst the runs, launching an early assault and went on to score a magnificent 37-ball 53.

The southpaw was later joined by Ellyse Perry who continued her red hot form and remained unbeaten with 49 off 38. Richa Ghosh and Georgia Wareham played crucial cameos as well, propelling RCB to a challenging total.

The Mumbai Indians, who are currently placed second in the points table, need to win this match to go top of the table. The 2023 champions have a good chance to chase this total and qualify directly to the final.
