David Warner departs cheaply [Source: @BBL/X.Com]
For the second successive game, ex-Australian star, David Warner failed to deliver the goods as the left-handed batter was dismissed cheaply against arch-rivals, Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League match.
The skipper of the Sydney Thunder team, Warner had a dismal outing in the tournament opener, where he was dismissed for just 7 runs on the board. The explosive batter was expected to do well in the ongoing contest, but after a brief cameo of 18 runs, Warner walked back to the pavilion.
Interestingly, he started on the aggressive note and smashed a couple of boundaries and a six. However, after taking on his Aussie teammate, Sean Abbott, the bowler had the last laugh, dismissing him for 18 runs.
In the first delivery of the 4th over, David Warner smacked Abbott for a six, as he looked in great mood. However, the bowler took his revenge on the next ball itself as Warner miscued his slog and found the fielder at deep square leg as he departed with a disappointing face.
How Sixers trapped Warner
The pitch at the Sydney Showground Stadium Sydney was a batting paradise and had nothing for the fast bowlers. After Anbbott got smacked for a six, Sixers skipper, Moises Henriques approached his fast bowler and had a brief conversation with him.
Perhaps the plan was to go full and straight so that there was no room for the left-handed batter to execute. Warner slogged it on the leg side and there was a fielder already there for that specific shot as the batter was trapped in the ploy.
