India A overcame the visiting Australia A team in a thrilling finish to clinch the three-match series 2-1. Shreyas Iyer and Riyan Parag punched out dazzling 60s after opening batter Prabhsimran Singh laid out the early platform in a tall chase.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the third unofficial ODI of the three-match series between India A and Australia A, as it panned out at the Green Park in Kanpur on Sunday, October 5.

Australia A get to 316 despite Arshdeep, Harshit’s three-fers

Arshdeep Singh struck early for India A as the ace paceman got rid of both Australia A openers, Mackenzie Harvey and Jake Fraser-McGurk with the new ball. Harshit Rana also got into his groove with two early wickets as the visitors slipped to 44-4 in eight overs. Cooper Connolly at number three led Australia’s spirited fightback with a valiant 64 off 49 balls.

Tottering at 135-6, Liam Scott (73 off 64) and Australia A captain Jack Edwards crafted a monumental 152-run partnership for the seventh wicket to tilt the tide back in the visitor’s favour. Both cricketers punched out majestic half-centuries, with captain Edwards top-scoring through his belligerent 75-ball 89. With Australia’s late defiance, they reached a commanding 316 in 49.1 overs.

For India A, Arshdeep Singh (3-38) and Harshit Rana (3-61) added a wicket each to their tally to finish with tight three-fers. Gurjapneet Singh and Nishant Sindhu also chipped in with a wicket each while Ayush Badoni claimed figures of 2-31 in his six overs.

Prabhsimran ton, Shreyas Iyer and Parag’s 60s take India A home

India’s Asia Cup 2025 heroes, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma both failed to get going for India A in their tall chase as the two in-form batters were deceived by Australian spinner Todd Murphy. Prabhsimran Singh counterattacked for the hosts with a blistering 66-ball ton, cracking 102 runs in all from 68 balls with eight fours and seven sixes. The attacking opener crafted a 56-run partnership with captain Shreyas Iyer, before the latter forged a match-defining 117-run stand with Riyan Parag.

Both Shreyas (62 off 58) and Parag (62 off 55) hauled dazzling half-centuries before a semi-batting collapse set up stage for a thrilling finish. Forming forces at 301-8, Vipraj Nigam (24*) and Arshdeep Singh (7* off 4) eventually steered India A home with two wickets in hand in 46 overs.

For Australia A, Tanveer Sangha (4-72) and Murphy (4-42) both claimed four wickets each to spark visitor’s courageous fightback at various junctures of the run-chase.
