The first game of the The Hundred 2024 between Oval Invincibles Women and Birmingham Phoenix Women turned out to be a one-sided affair with former winning the game by 45 runs.  Oval Invincibles scored 150 while batting first and in reply, Phoenix's batting failed miserably with their skipper and star player Ellyse Perry getting run out for a seven-ball duck.

Ellyse Perry walked out to bat at number 3 with Phoenix losing Bates on the 22nd ball. Perry struggled to get going, and finally on a shortish delivery by Amanda-Jade Wellington.

She cut the ball towards covers, but Alice Capsey did a brilliant work, dived to her left and fired in a quick throw to the batter's end as Perry had a miscommunication with her partner Sterre Kalis and before she could get back to her crease, Lauren Winfield-Hill behind the stumps whipped the bails off.
