Orange And Purple Cap Winner: Who Tops The List In IPL 2025 After MI vs CSK Game?

Sunday was another outstanding day of cricket where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) triumphed. In the afternoon match, the RCB side defeated Punjab Kings by seven wickets, while Mumbai Indians rolled over Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets.

From the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli (73*) and Devdutt Padikkal (61) played outstanding knocks, helping them finish the game with seven deliveries to spare. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians were powered by an excellent unbeaten partnership of 114 between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. The duo struck their personal knocks of 76* and 68* respectively, where Mumbai Indians won the game with extreme ease, with 26 balls remaining.

The orange cap is still with Nicholas Pooran from Lucknow Super Giants, who has 368 runs after eight matches, with an average of 52.57, and has a strike rate of 205.58. Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan is second, whereas Mumbai Indians' Suryakumar Yadav, who batted beautifully for his 30-ball 68 not out, is now third with 333 runs in eight matches, while Virat Kohli, who in the first game of the day batted beautifully for his 73*, has now moved to fourth position with 322 runs in eight games. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans' Jos Buttler has slipped down to fifth place with 315 runs in seven matches.

IPL 2025 Purple Cap List

On the purple cap chart, Prasidh Krishna has retained his purple cap with 14 wickets in seven matches as his average is 14.35, where he has bowled at an economy of 7.44. Interestingly, Kuldeep Yadav has now moved up to second position, as Chennai Super Kings' Noor Ahmad had an off-day, where he was smashed for 36 runs in three overs, and hence, his economy has blown up to 7.66, compared to Kuldeep Yadav's 6.25, as both of them have 12 wickets each. 

RCB's Josh Hazlewood is jointly second as well, with 12 wickets to his name as well, as he failed to pick a wicket against Punjab Kings, while Shardul Thakur is jointly second too, with 12 wickets to his name.
