The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow is set to host a thrilling encounter as the Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) lock horns with the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 40th group-stage match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. In a significant development, DC captain Axar Patel have won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

As for the team changes, Dushmantha Chameera makes his debut for Delhi Capitals and replaces Mohit Sharma. For LSG they are playing with the same XI.  

LSG vs DC's Tournament So Far 

Led by the ever-energetic Rishabh Pant, LSG have displayed grit and consistency this season. With five wins in eight matches, they are currently at the fifth position of the points table. 

On the other side, the Delhi Capitals have had an impressive IPL 2025 campaign under their dynamic leadership of Axar Patel. Despite a setback in their last outing, DC currently occupy the second spot in the standings. 

LSG vs DC IPL 2025: Captains' Thoughts

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "I think definitely. The way this wicket is playing, it stops a little bit in the first innings. It gets better and better. The hand is fine. We feel it's going to be on the slower side when the innings is starting. Not losing too many wickets. That's the only thing we keep in mind. We feel as a team, we don't think what is happening around us. We are just trying to improve. Whichever team plays better is going to win. Just trying to do that more often and that's the only thought process. We are playing with the same team."

Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals Captain): "We would like to bowl first. It's the red soil and the dew will be a factor as well. We only focus on the positives and focus on what could be done better. You think about some factors when it's a close game. The impact player's role is to come in the situation and make an impact on the game. Unfortunately 2-3 players got injured so using them in the field also is a factor. Mohit Sharma is out and Dushmantha Chameera replaces him."
