The Delhi Capitals are playing their first match of the IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. They are taking on a reeling Mumbai Indians in the 29th game of the tournament.

Faf du Plessis Not Playing The Match Due To Injury

Notably, Axar Patel the captain of the Delhi Capitals won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. A big missing from their squad was Faf du Plessis, the trusted and dynamic opener. 

As far the latest reports, Faf has suffered some kind of an injury and hence will not be a part of the DC playing unit in the game. The question arises for the fans, who will open the innings for the Capitals in absence of the South African legend.

KL Rahul To Regain His Opening Spot

Jake Fraser-McGurk has been the designated opener for the Capitals in the tournament. So, the management will persist with the young Australian batter for the top spot. As is apparent now, from the team of the Delhi Capitals for the game, KL Rahul will be seen opening the innings for them.

The Indian wicketkeeper batter opened the innings for the match two games before. However, with the return of Faf du Plessis in the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he went back to his designated number four spot.
