Joe Root Equals Kumar Sangakkara's Tally With 38th Test Century vs India

England star batter Joe Root has added another feather to his cap as he equalled Kumar Sangakkara's tally with 38th Test century on Day 3 of the fourth Test against India in Manchester. The 34-year-old reached the milestone in 168 deliveries and his knock featured 11 boundaries. 

The right-hand batter brought up his second consecutive Test hundred as he also scored a ton at Lord's in the first innings. Root reached the milestone in the 96th over of the match, when he scored a four off Anshul Kamboj's bowling. With the century, Root now has the joint-fourth most Test hundreds. He has closed gap with Sachin Tendulkar, who has 51 hundreds to his name in red-ball cricket. Root now required 14 tons to topple Sachin's tally. Here is the complete list.

Joe Root Goes Past Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis

It has been a great day for Joe Root as he broke several feats with his unbeaten knock against India. Before the century, Root had gone past Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid for most runs in Test cricket.

Notably, at the time of writing, Root is batting on unbeaten 106 (181) and has taken his run-tally to 13352. Root is now the third leading run-getter in Test cricket only behind Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar.
