The Indian women's team secured a decisive victory over South Africa women in the one-off Women's Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, June 1. Showing dominance on home soil, India sealed a comprehensive 10-wicket win during the final session on day 4 of the Test match.

The Indian batters controlled the game from the outset, laying a solid foundation before the spinners took over and turned the tide in India's favor.

Choosing to bat first, India Women declared their innings at 603/6. The standout performance came from the record-breaking opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, who amassed 292 runs. Shafali scored a double century, while Mandhana fell just short of 150. Contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Richa Ghosh further bolstered India's total, resulting in a historic milestone as the highest score in Women's Test cricket.

South Africa struggled to cope with India's imposing total of 603 runs, collapsing to 266 in their first innings. Conditions proved challenging for South Africa Women, despite strong performances by Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp initially. However, once their partnership was broken, Sneh Rana dominated with the red-ball for India, claiming 8 wickets and emerging as the standout bowler.

With a big first-innings lead of 337 runs, India enforced the follow-on.The South African batters showed resistance in the second innings. Captain Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus both scored centuries, forming a crucial 190-run partnership for the second wicket. Despite a middle-order stumble, Nadine de Klerk's determined 61 helped South Africa reach 373/10, avoiding an innings defeat and setting India a target of 37 runs for victory.

Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, and Gayakwad picked up multiple wickets for India, while Pooja Vastrakar, Shafali Verma, and Harmanpreet Kaur each contributed with a wicket, contributing to South Africa's downfall.

Shubha Satheesh came in to open the batting in the fourth innings with Shafali. They spearheaded India's innings, taking only 9.2 overs to achieve the target.
