Team India's much-awaited West Indies tour begins on Wednesday, with both teams set to cross swords against each other in the first Test of the two-match series at Windsor Park in Dominica. While the series marks the beginning of the transition phase in the Indian Test team, West Indies will have a point to prove after a disastrous campaign in the recently-concluded World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

So, as both teams gear up for a fascinating contest, let's see how the surface in Dominica will behave throughout the Test match.

Windsor Park, Dominica pitch report for 1st Test between India and West Indies

The surface at Windsor Park in Dominica will have plenty of things in store for the fast bowlers. There will be a hint of seam movement throughout the day, making the batters from both sides work hard for runs. Also, given the Dukes ball swings all day, scoring against it might be tricky if the pacers hit the right areas.

Furthermore, as it has always been the case with the tracks in the Caribbean, the pitch in Dominica might also contain some spongy bounce, with its up-and-down nature likely to aid the fast bowlers. Scoring hasn't been a cakewalk here, as evident from the average run rate of 2.72 in five Test matches.

So, whichever team wins the toss will likely bat, considering the surface will deteriorate with time.
