Team India demolished England by a record margin on Day 4 of the Rajkot Test to go 2-1 up in their five-match series.

Jaiswal’s six-hitting rampage takes Indian lead to 556

India's overnight batters Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav made their way back to the sheds within the day's opening hour, as they failed to pounce on their unbeaten scores. While Gill (91) missed out on his century courtesy of a mix-up with Kuldeep, the latter was deceived a while later by rival spinner Rehan Ahmed for 27.

Unbeaten centurion and opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who retired from the field on Day 3 at 104*, returned to the crease and formed forces with debutant Sarfaraz Khan. Employing a belligerent approach, the two dashing youngsters shared 172 unbeaten runs from just 158 balls for the fifth wicket.

While Khan pounded a near run-a-ball 68* to list his second 60-plus score of the match, young Yashasvi converted his ton into his second consecutive double hundred.

The left-hander pumped out 12 sixes in his marathon knock, including three in succession off England's ageing warhorse James Anderson before Rohit Sharma's bold declaration curtailed his innings at 214* from 236 balls.

Jadeja cuts through ENG line-up to set up record win

Left to deal with a world-record run-chase, an indecisive English top-order was pulverised by Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja instead as the visitors pondered over their highly successful 'BazBall' approach.

However, before Bumrah handed India their first breakthrough by trapping Zak Crawley in front, it was Mohammed Siraj's bullet throw that accounted for first-innings centurion Ben Duckett.

Later, Jadeja mowed down England's middle order with relative ease, claiming Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root in quick succession. Kuldeep Yadav also seized two victims of his own, including that of visiting skipper Ben Stokes, to reduce the Englishmen to 50-7 at one stage.

Comeback man Ravichandran Ashwin curtailed Tom Hartley's rising resistance before Jadeja removed a six-lusted Mark Wood to finish with astonishing figures of 5-41.

England's response eventually dusted up for 122 in 39.4 overs to hand India a record win margin of 434 runs.
