Ravichandran Ashwin made his return to the field at Rajkot for Team India on Day 4 of their third Test match of the series against England. Earlier in the match, the cricketer had opted himself out for a while citing personal reasons.

As it turned out, Ashwin left midway to attend his ailing mother prior to the third day’s play. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made special arrangements for the all-rounder’s travel plans, which even included organizing a charter flight for his travel back home.

Following the conclusion of Day 2, Ravichandran Ashwin withdrew his name from the remainder of the Rajkot Test match due to a family medical emergency. While he backed out of the match to attend his ailing mother, he ended up making a return to the Indian team shortly after the Tea break on Day 4.

As per recent reports, the BCCI arranged a special charted flight for Ashwin to travel back home, and also arranged a similar flight to return back to the field.

Prior to his break, Ravichandran Ashwin also claimed his landmark 500th wicket in Tests on Day 2 of the same match. The seasoned off-spinner accounted for England’s raging opener Zak Crawley to give his side a much-needed breakthrough during the first English innings.

By completing 500 wickets, Ashwin became only the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble and only the ninth overall in format’s history to get to the coveted milestone.
