Beth Mooney tons up with the tail to shatter Pakistan

Australia Women climbed to a competitive 221-9 after slipping to 76-7 around the halfway stage of the innings. After Sadia Iqbal got the opening breakthrough for Pakistan Women with the wicket of opener Alyssa Healy for 20, Rameen Shamim (2-29) and Nashra Sandhu (3-37) scythed through Australia’s middle and lower order by picking up five wickets between them.

Beth Mooney at number four punched out a record century by crafting valiant lower-order runs with Kim Garth (11 off 47) and Alana King (51* of 49). Mooney clattered 11 boundaries in her counterattacking innings to crack 109 runs from 114 balls, and only got out off the final ball to Fatima Sana. Alana also listed a speedy half-century of her own to bat out the final 16 overs of the innings after arriving to the crease at a precarious 115-8.
