BAN vs AFG | Shakib's Turn Does The Trick; Zadran Throws Wicket After Getting A Start

Afghanistan got off to a blistering start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran stitched a 47-run opening stand, but the latter failed against the masterclass of Shakib Al Hasan. After Bangladesh's faster bowlers failed to get any movement at Dharamsala, the skipper introduced himself into the attack and got a result in his second over of the day.

Against the left-arm spinner, Zadran tried slog-sweeping the ball into the stands over deep mid wicket but eventually made a mess of it. Shakib tossed the ball up against the right-hander, and it bounced a tad extra to take the top edge off the blade. In the end, Tanzid made no mistake and pocketed an easy one near the fence.

Earlier in the day, Shakib won the toss and chose to field first in Dharamsala, assuming his faster bowlers would get some assistance in the morning, but it didn't happen. After Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman failed to provide breakthroughs, the Bangla skipper took the onus his hands to pull off magic.

At the time of writing, the Afghan are bossing the bowlers but cautiously, with the score reading 70-1 after 13 overs. Gurbaz is racing towards a fifty on his World Cup debut.
