Bangaldesh's ODI skipper Shakib Al Hasan has professed his deep affection for the ODI format, which he grew up playing. He highlighted the ease with which he adapted to this format since it required minimal adjustments compared to the changes demanded by T20 and Test cricket.

In a video released by the ICC, Shakib conveyed his unwavering desire to win every game he participates in. He attributed his competitive spirit and winning mentality as the driving forces behind his successful career.

"I always like to win; I don't want to lose at all, whether it's a local game or an international match. I believe my winning mentality has shaped me. I love this format; we primarily played it while growing up. So, from childhood, I'm well-versed in this format. In T20s and Tests, I have to make numerous adjustments, but in ODIs, I hardly need to change anything," said Shakib Al Hasan.

Currently holding the top spot as the world's number one ODI all-rounder, Shakib is Bangladesh's premier ODI batter and bowler. With 240 ODIs under his belt, he boasts 7384 runs and 308 wickets. Shakib has recorded nine centuries and 55 half-centuries, maintaining an average of 37.67 and a strike rate in the 80s. As a bowler, his best figures are 5/29, and he maintains an economy rate of 4.44.

In the 2019 World Cup edition, Shakib was recognized as one of the MVPs of the tournament. His contributions with both bat and ball powered Bangladesh to convincing victories over West Indies and South Africa, despite narrow defeats to New Zealand and India.

As the star all-rounder enters this year's World Cup campaign, his experience and versatile skills make him an invaluable asset for the Tigers. His familiarity with Indian conditions, gained through his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL), adds to his value. This tournament likely marks his final appearance in a World Cup, and Shakib is determined to conclude his World Cup journey on a high note.
