Babar Azam's embarrassing 2024 continues as Pakistan's star batter was dismissed for a 4-ball duck Vs South Africa in the 1st T20I match in Durban. The opening batter never looked comfortable and was dismissed by Kwena Maphaka in his second over.
Chasing 184, Pakistan sprung a surprise as Saim Ayub was demoted but Babar and Mohammad Rizwan opened the innings. While Rizwan played some gorgeous looking shots, Babar survived a major caught behind scare, but he eventually threw his wicket away.
Maphaka bowled it short and the ball moved away from the batter with the angle. The opening batter threw his hands at it and got an outside-edge which travelled to the fielder at deep backward point, who puts in a dive and grabbed the ball to end Babar's stay.
Babar never looked comfortable as the extra bounce and movement under lights troubled the batter.
Babar joins Kohli in unwanted record
This was Babar's 7th duck in T20I cricket and he joins Virat Kohli in this list. Both the batters have the same number of ducks in T20Is, a record which Babar won't be proud of.
While Kohli achieved the unwanted feat in 125 T20I matches, Babar matched it in his 126th T20I game.

At one stage, South Africa were under pressure as Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed ran riot with the ball in hand.
However, David Miller showcased his brute power as the southpaw smashed 82 off 40 balls and took his side to a respectable 183. The finishing touches was provided by George Linde, who scored a quick-fire 48 off 24 balls.
