After retiring from Test cricket in July 2024, English legendary seamer James Anderson made a roaring comeback. The right-arm pacer picked up two wickets against Derbyshire in the ongoing County Championship match.

James Anderson Gets Two On Comeback

The 42-year-old veteran James Anderson was been terrific for England since his debut. After being forced to retire from his beloved format back in July last year against West Indies, where he played his final game at the iconic Lord's cricket ground, the right-arm pacer has been absent from professional cricket since then.

However, he was slated to make his comeback in this year's County Championship Division Two 2025 for Lancashire, but was unable to do so after missing out due to a calf injury, which kept him out of action for five games.

Nonetheless, he made his comeback in the ongoing encounter against Derbyshire at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, where the home side Lancashire, batting first and posted 458 on the board on the back of Luke Wells' 141, while George Balderson (73), George Bell (57), and Matthew Hurst (51) provided crucial support with the bat.

During the first innings, Anderson, who played four deliveries, managed four runs with a boundary to his name and remained unbeaten till the end.

Anyway, the major spotlight came on Anderson in the Derbyshire innings, when he opened the innings with the ball and provided a solid start to his side, as the opposition lost their two wickets for the score of 50 in 8.2 overs, with both the openers, Caleb Jewell and David Lloyd, falling prey to the legendary pacer.

The right-arm pacer first knocked over Jewell with a beautiful delivery that disturbed his stumps as he didn't had any answer to English pacer's peach while he next dismissed Lloyd in the 9th over, who was caught by the keeper Hurst, after the ball looped off his bat, which Lloyd claimed was off his body, but still, had to walk back for 27.

Anderson Finishes Day Two With Outstanding Figures

After bowling the ninth over, Anderson stayed away from the crease and didn't get to bowl another over, as he finished the second day with figures of 2/24 in his five overs. Derbyshire, by the end of the day, were 112 for loss of four wickets after the end of the 36 overs, as they trailed by 346 runs.

Apart from Anderson, Tom Hartley picked Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen's wicket, while Luke Wells got his hands on Harry Came for 31.
