Rohit Sharma might not be in top gear with the bat this IPL but off the field, he just got a massive salute from the city he has ruled for years. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) recently approved a proposal to name a stand at Wankhede Stadium after none other than the Hitman himself: Rohit Sharma and Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey was stoked by the decision.

Vikrant Massey Cheers Rohit Sharma’s Big Honour

The 12th Fail actor took to Instagram with a proud post, sharing a photo of Rohit Sharma standing with BCCI president Stuart Binny, captioning it like a true MI fanboy:

“Ab Wankhede mein apna ek stand hoga!!! Kya bolti Paltan, My Hero Rohit Sharma”

It is the kind of love that only Mumbaikars understand. From the gullies of Borivali to the stands of Wankhede, Rohit’s journey just got its stamp of legacy.

MCA AGM Passes Big Proposal

This major move came during the MCA Annual General Meeting, where a resolution to rename three stands was put forward by Milind Narvekar and seconded by Jitendra Awhad. The house gave it a big thumbs-up.

Here’s how the Wankhede revamp now looks:

  • Grand Stand Level 3: Shri Sharad Pawar Stand
  • Grand Stand Level 4: Ajit Wadekar Stand
  • Divecha Pavilion Level 3: Rohit Sharma Stand

Rohit’s Sharma’s IPL Form A Bit Patchy

While the stand news is all fireworks, Rohit Sharma’s form in IPL 2025 has been a bit cold. The former MI captain has scored just 82 runs in 6 innings so far, including a 26-run cameo against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he did flex his muscle with three sixes. Fans are still backing him to bounce back, because Rohit doesn’t stay quiet for long.

MI’s Bumpy Ride So Far

Mumbai Indians are currently 7th on the IPL 2025 points table with 3 wins in 7 games. After a poor start, they have managed to pick up some steam but they have still got a mountain to climb if they want to make playoffs.
