After a long wait, the BCCI finally announced India's squad for the 2023 Asia Cup earlier today. Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been a regular in the Indian Team since 2017, has been dropped from the squad for the tournament, which gets underway later this month.

Soon after the squad announcement, Chahal took to Twitter to share a cryptic post, which is most probably on him being overlooked in the squad for the Asia Cup.

His tweet is similar to what Rohit Sharma tweeted after being left out of the Indian Test team in 2018.

Ajit Agarkar, who was appointed as the chief selector last month, offered an explanation for leaving out Chahal in the squad.

"Chahal was discussed, but sometimes it is the balance of the side we had to look at. Kuldeep has been really good, Axar has done well, but to fit two wrist spinners was difficult, so Chahal had to miss out," Agarkar told reporters.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are fit to resume playing international cricket and both have been included in the squad. Tilak Verma, who impressed in the IPL 2023 and in the limited-over series against West Indies, has also been named in the squad.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, who has started batting in the nets, needs some more time to regain full fitness.
