Promising Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the verge of going past legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on an elite list. Since making his debut, Jaiswal has been a force to reckon with the bat in Test cricket.
The swashbuckling southpaw, who hammered a blistering hundred on his debut, has slammed 1568 runs in 28 innings at a superb average of 58.1. Apart from being consistent, Yashasvi Jaiswal has stunned the opponents with his scintillating stroke-play, maintaining a magnificent strike rate of 67.8. Furthermore, his knack for converting the starts into significant scores makes him a valuable asset for team India in the purest format.
Jaiswal On The Verge Of Breaking Tendulkar's Record
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the brink of surpassing batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar in an illustrious batting feat. Regarded as the God of Cricket, Tendulkar holds the record for the most Test runs in a calendar year for India with 1562 runs, which he struck in 2010. India's young gun Jaiswal has already hammered 1280 Test runs this year and, thus, he needs 283 more runs to eclipse the Master Blaster.
Interestingly, Jaiswal and Tendulkar both have batted on 23 occasions. However, with India set to play three more Tests against Australia this year, the southpaw has a golden opportunity to dethrone the master.
Jaiswal's Performance In Perth Test
Hailed for his technique and stroke-play, Jaiswal had a great start to his first Australian tour, amassing a match-winning century in the series opener in Perth. Although he got out for a duck in the first innings, the young opener regained his mojo with a blistering ton that powered India to a commanding win on Aussie soil.
