  • Wi Vs Ban 1St T20i Persistent Rain Has A Final Say On The Result Of The Match

WI vs BAN | 1st T20I | Persistent rain has a final say on the result of the match

West Indies and Bangladesh met at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica, in the first fixture of the bilateral T20I series. However, the rain gods were not too kind for the full match to take place.

The Nicholas Pooran-led side won the toss and opted to bowl first. The match was reduced to 16 overs per side due to a delayed start due to rain.

The spinner Akeal Hosein picked the wicket of Munim Shahriar (2) in the third ball of the innings.

Anamul Haque did fire in three boundaries and threatened the hosts to get going, but was dismissed LBW by Obed McCoy in the fourth over for 16 off 10.

Shakib tries his best to resurrect the innings

Then, the experienced Shakib Al Hasan tried to show the way for the visitors with his confident shots. However, he again failed to convert his good starts into a big one, and perished for 29 off 15.

In the eighth over, the rain again halted the game, paving the game to be played for 14 overs per side.

The only notable contributor in the rest of the batting unit was Nurul Hasan, scoring 25 off 16.

Bangladesh were at 105/8 in 13 overs, until the rain showers erupted at the stadium again, and no play was possible. Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers for the Caribbean team with the figures of 3/21 in three overs.

This was the first international match at Windsor Park, after the hurricane damaged it in 2017.

The 2nd T20I will be played on July 3 (Sunday) at the same venue.
