WI vs BAN | Mahmudullah brushes aside the Test series loss to focus on T20Is

Bangladesh T20I skipper Mahmudullah said his team will be very positive and aggressive in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies.

Speaking prior to the first T20I of the series, Mahmudullah raised his voice in support of giving the "right opportunity" to new players like Anamul Haque and Munim Shahriar.

"Munim (Shahriar) is still new, and Bijoy (Anamul) is just coming in. They will have to be given the right opportunity, and at the same time, me and the team management must ensure that they can play with peace of mind and get their opportunities in the correct way," Cricbuzz quoted Mahmudullah.

Mahmudullah asked his teammates to show more consistency in the overseas matches as they show in the home conditions.

"In home conditions, I think we're consistent but we lack improvement in away conditions. Many of the players are still young and inexperienced and will have to be given time," he added.

The 36-year-old cricketer feels that the team needs to forget the whitewash against the same opposition in the Test series and should focus on the T20Is as it'll be a "different ball game".

Skipper talks about the difference between Tests and T20Is

"In T20Is, you have very little time in the game, so you need to be very much aware of the conditions that will be provided. The game sense has to be applied. Our motto will be to be very positive and aggressive at the same time," Mahmudullah said.

"I think it's a different ball game now. The red ball is different to white ball cricket. So we're keeping the red ball issues aside and trying to focus on our T20 games as we're preparing for the World Cup as well. So it will be a very good opportunity to play the West Indies in their home soil and we're looking forward to it."

The Bangla Tigers skipper is satisfied with the available depth of the squad and said that his Tam is strong on both batting and bowling fronts.

"Shakib (Al Hasan) is there, Liton (Das) too. Me, Afif (Hossain), Sohan (Nurul Hasan), and Mosaddek (Hossain) are there. Sheikh Mahedi (Mahedi Hasan) too. I think we've got very good batting depth and our bowling attack is good with variety."

The first T20I of the series was abandoned due to heavy rain. The second game of the series takes place tonight, and the visitors will be eager to get the much-needed victory on the board.
