‘Where is India’s captain?’ Netizens Slam Star Sports For Ignoring Rohit Sharma in Asia Cup Promo

The recent Asia Cup 2023 promo video released by Star Sports on social media quickly gained attention. While some Indian supporters are pleased to see Virat Kohli as the face of the video, others are annoyed by their flagrant disregard for their all-format captain, Rohit Sharma.

There is no denying that Kohli is the most successful ODI batsman since the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. However, many feel it is unfair that Rohit, given his incredible ODI statistics and current role as a team leader across formats, is not featured in the official promo of such a big event.

To clarify, there is a backstory behind the video. Star Sports signed Kohli as their brand ambassador earlier this year, while Rohit has been roped in by Jio Cinema for the same position.

The forthcoming Asia Cup will begin on August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal to begin the proceedings. India, meanwhile, will start their campaign on September 2 by going up against arch-rivals Pakistan.
