Mignon du Preez re-signs with Hobart Hurricanes

Hobart Hurricanes have roped in South Africa batter Mignon du Preez for the eighth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

The Hurricanes on Thursday (August 4) announced that the 33-year-old Proteas T20 specialist would take part in the competition, set to begin on October 13.

Du Preez, who retired from Tests and ODIs in April, was the highest run-getter for Hurricanes and scored 414 runs at an average of 31.84 and a strike rate of 115.00. on Thursday (August 4).

"I can't wait to return to Australia. I love the Big Bash. It was a big decision for me to make the move to the Hurricanes last season, but I can honestly say I had such a great time both on and off the field," Migon du Preez said.

Du Preez will be accompanied by her friend and ex-South Africa batter Lizelle Lee who has already signed a deal with the Hurricanes for the upcoming season.

"We have a lot of the same team we had last year heading into WBBL 08, plus some pretty great additions too, and knowing first-hand what players of the quality of Junior (Elyse Villani) and Lizelle (Lee) can bring to a T20 team, I think that puts us in a pretty good position."

Apart from the signing of the two Proteas stars, the Hurricanes also have secured the services of Australian internationals like Nicola Carey, Heather Graham, and Molly Strano in their lineup.
