Aiden Markram impressed with Tristan Stubbs

South African batter Aiden Markram heaped praise on fellow teammate Tristan Stubbs and labelled him as the X-factor in the side.

Stubbs hogged the limelight during South Africa's historic T20I series win over England in their own backyard.

In the series opener, Stubbs played one of the most astonishing counter-attacking knocks by a 21-year-old against seasoned T20I bowlers like Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, and Reece Topley. In a game which South Africa lost by a big margin, Stubbs came out as a big positive for the Proteas.

It took him just 28 deliveries to hit 72 runs and record the second fastest half-century in T20I matches for South Africa, in just 19 balls.

Another string of good performances in the two-match series starting against Ireland on Wednesday, and Stubbs should be a definite starter for South Africa in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

Stubbs has got the X-factor, says Markram

Talking about South Africa's new batting sensation, Markram said that it is great to have someone of Stubbs' calibre in the team who brings adds an X-factor to the side.

“He (Stubbs) has shown on this (England) tour that he fits into international cricket, and is able to do some really special things. It’s awesome to have him in the squad and it’s exciting for us as a squad to have a player of his X-factor ability, especially with the bat in the last few overs through his power. It’s great to have him around. He’s a good laugh and he enjoys life," said Aiden Markram.
