Legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who captained the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title earlier this year, has shed light on his post-surgery knee recovery. At a recent event in Bengaluru, the 42-year-old confirmed that he's well on the path to complete recovery.

Dhoni's promising update has fuelled IPL 2024 comeback hopes

Last season, Dhoni's on-field performance was hampered by a persistent knee ailment, which curtailed his batting performance. After leading CSK to another title victory, he opted for knee surgery. Now, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has expressed optimism about his health status, revealing that there have been no complications post-operation.

He conveyed that medical experts have indicated his condition should substantially improve by the coming November. Presently, Dhoni is immersed in an intensive rehabilitation regime, ensuring that his day-to-day activities are unaffected.

"Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab patch, the doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine," said Dhoni.

Dhoni's remarks came after widespread speculation about his cricketing future, especially after the victorious IPL season.

The overwhelming support from CSK fans notably influenced the iconic player's decision to play another season. He felt an obligation to reward their loyalty with another appearance in the upcoming season.

Following the victory against Gujarat Titans earlier this year at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Dhoni had hinted at the ideal circumstances for retirement. However, he subtly suggested that he would resist the easy route of hanging up his boots, primarily as a tribute to the immense love showered upon him by the CSK faithful.

With this recent MS Dhoni knee injury update, fans can eagerly anticipate the stalwart’s return to action in the IPL 2024.
