In a moment of uncanny coincidence and amusement, Mumbai Indians' bowling coach, the legendary Lasith Malinga, found himself face-to-face with his Indian doppelganger during a training session at the iconic Wankhede Stadium ahead of the MI-KKR IPL 2024 clash.

After a painful road trip filled with unusual losses, Mumbai Indians returned to Wankhede for their upcoming clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, the challenge will be far tougher as KKR are the second-place team in the points table, whereas MI is hovering at the bottom alongside RCB.

Malinga meets his Doppelganger

Nevertheless, ahead of the big clash, players from both sides had a mini meet-up during the practice session as they embraced the difficult nuisances of the IPL tournament. Amid this, MI's bowling coach and legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga had a strange encounter with an Indian fan.

Malinga met his famous doppelganger fan and later obliged to take a picture with him. However, the resemblance between the two was so striking that it prompted double takes and incredulous stares from those present at the stadium. 

With their similar build, distinctive hairstyles, and unmistakable facial features, it was as if Malinga had stumbled upon his mirror image in the midst of Mumbai's cricketing hub.

The video of the rare meet went viral on social media and has been widely loved by fans across the border.

That being said, the upcoming clash against KKR is nearly a virtual knockout for Mumbai Indians, as their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. With just four games left on the schedule, MI not only has to win it all with a comfortable margin but also depend on other teams' results.
