TNPL 2022 | Tiruppur Tamizhans register comprehensive 53-run win over Madurai Panthers

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans produced a stellar bowling performance to outclass the spirited Siechem Madurai Panthers by 53 runs in the 23rd match of Tamil Nadu Premier League, played at Salem on Wednesday, July 20.

How it panned out for Madurai Panthers

Batting first, the Srikkanth Anirudha-led side delivered a below-par batting performance as they could only manage to post 129 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first inning courtesy of impeccable bowling efforts from Madurai Panthers.

In reply, SMP's chase sputtered as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually bundled out for just 76 runs with 16 balls remaining. It was the third lowest score registered by any team in the history of the tournament.

Sunny Sandhu, with 17 runs from 15 balls was the top scorer for Madurai. Apart from him, only Arun Karthik (12 off 16) and Rithik Easwaran (14 off 16) could register a score in two-digits.

Maan K Bafna steers ITT to a decent total

Earlier, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, after being inserted to bat first, got off to a terrible start, having slumped to 26/2 in 3.3 overs.

Opener S Aravind (18-ball 19) and P Francis Rokins (23-ball 17) then carried out a quick recovery by stitching out a significant partnership of 22 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Furthermore, it was Maan K Bafna's unbeaten knock of 34-ball 40 which turned out to be the inning or rather a match-saving knock for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.

Kiran Akash spearheaded Siechem Madurai Panthers' bowling with 3-18 in his spell of 3 overs.
