‘The only batsman who gave me nightmares as captain’ - Gautam Gambhir

It is not easy to forget how Rohit Sharma has scored over 1000 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. 

On Saturday, Rohit turned 35-year old and Gautam Gambhir looked back on how the Hitman scored a century against Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders back in 2012. 

Gambhir recalled the ‘nightmares’ Rohit gave him on the latter’s 35th birthday. The Mumbai Indians skipper has scored 1018 runs against KKR in 30 matches at an average of 44.26 at a strike rate of 130.51. 

The Lucknow mentor jokingly mentioned about his trouble with the veteran in the opposition on Rohit Sharma’s birthday. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Birthday greetings to the only batsman who’s given me nightmares as a captain. Thankfully, I don’t captain anymore @ImRo45.”

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants is doing well under Gambhir’s mentorship. After leading Kolkata to two titles back in 2012 and 2014, the talisman is letting no stone unturn to help LSG lift the title in their maiden season itself. 

As of now, the Super Giants have won six out of nine matches to sit on the third position. Whereas, the five-team champions are yet to open its account on points table in the going edition of the IPL.
