SL vs PAK | Babar Azam completes 3000 runs in Test Cricket

Pakistan skipper and batting Maestro Babar Azam has completed 3000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved the feat during the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Azam becomes the 19th Pakistani to reach the landmark

Babar reached this landmark in his 73rd Test innings. He achieved this feat during Pakistan's run chase against Sri Lanka, where his contribution was 119 and 55 in the two innings.

Overall, he becomes the 19th batter from Green Nation to accomplish this record, the list headed by Pakistani batting maestro Younis Khan with 10,099 runs.

Pakistan outclass Sri Lanka in record chase

Sri Lanka posted 222 on the board, with Pakistan replying back with 218 in the first innings. Having a meagre lead of 4 runs, Oshada Fernando and Dinesh Chandimal's valiant efforts helped Sri Lanka reach 337 in the second innings.

Chasing 342 on a challenging surface, Pakistan got off to a good start as Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq stitched 87 runs for the first wicket.

Although the Sri Lankan spinners, especially Prabath Jayasuriya, caused trouble in the Pakistani camp by dismissing Imam and Azhar Ali in quick succession, Babar and Shafique steadied the ship for the visitors.

Pakistan, on the final day of the first Test, thanks to masterful innings from Abdullah Shafique, recorded their second highest run-chase in history.
