Veda Krishnamurthy-led Karnataka had a disastrous start to their campaign as they got bowled out for 65 in 17.1 overs. The out-of-favour Indian middle-order batter Krishnamurthy could only manage a score of all. She fell to all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who scalped three vital wickets. Amanjot scored 19* not out with the bat to get the team over the line.

Star Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana-led Railways began their title defence with a comprehensive 64-run victory over Himachal Pradesh. S.Meghana (47), a part of the World Cup reserve squad, stitched a 103-run opening partnership with Swagatika Rath (69). However, Himachal never looked settled to chase down a stiff score as Rajeshwari Gayakwad snared four wickets.

Skipper Jemimah puts in an all-around show as Mumbai crush Bengal
Jemimah Rodrigues led from the front with a 31-ball 46 and scalped two wickets. M Dakshini scored an unbeaten 24-ball 43 for Mumbai to get the team’s total to 158/6. Three of Bengal’s top four, including Deepti Sharma, returned without troubling the scores.
