Sam Curran, the ace English all-rounder is reportedly set to be released by Punjab Kings after a lacklustre performance in the IPL 2023. According to the report from Cricbuzz, the costliest player in the IPL history - who was bought for 18.5 crore will be released, which is quite a surprise as Curran can be an asset with his all-round skills.

However, there is a possibility that Sam Curran could be bought again by the PBKS in the  2024 auction at a lower price. The auction for the 2024 season is set to take place at Dubai on 19th of December and is expected to be one intense affair, with plenty of big-ticket players set to be released.

Sam Curran played all 14 games in IPL 2023 and scored 276 runs with one fifty in it. However, it was his performance with the ball, that was quite disappointing from PBKS point of view. He took just 10 wickets at an economy rate of over 10 which cost his team badly, in the crucial game of IPL 2023.

Sam Curran also led Punjab Kings in few games after Shikhar Dhawan was injured and this will be a big and risky move, if he is released from the squad. He was the costliest player in the last edition because of his exploits in the T20 World Cup 2022, and if he gets his form back in the upcoming edition, he can be very handy with his all-round skills.
