Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has been widely praised in Pakistan for his fearless batting against India in the Asia Cup 2025, even though Pakistan lost the final. Farhan shone brightly in the tournament, scoring 115 runs in three innings against India at an impressive average of 51.66 and a strike rate of 122.04, including two half-centuries.
His fearless approach made him a standout performer, earning admiration from fans across the country.
Farhan had previously come under the spotlight for a controversial celebration during the Super Four clash against India. After reaching a fifty, he mimicked firing a rifle with his bat, which sparked outrage and drew a formal warning from the ICC.
In response, Farhan explained that it was just a spontaneous reaction in the heat of the moment and that he wasn’t worried about how people viewed it.
Sahibzada Farhan hailed in Pakistan for Heroic Batting
In Asia Cup final at Dubai International Stadium on September 28, Farhan kept things simple. After reaching his milestone, he calmly raised his bat and smiled toward the dugout. His innings included five boundaries and three sixes, displaying his ability to take on India’s top bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.
Notably, he became the first batter in T20Is to hit three sixes off Bumrah, Pakistan’s star pace bowler. He scored 57 off 34 balls and shared an 84-run opening stand with Fakhar Zaman.
Despite Farhan’s heroics, Pakistan’s batting collapsed, losing their last nine wickets for just 33 runs. Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul restricted Pakistan to 146, which India chased successfully, with Tilak Varma hitting a key six in the penultimate over and finishing unbeaten on 69, helping India win by five wickets and retain the Asia Cup.
Even though Pakistan fell short, Farhan’s fearless batting earned him praise and recognition at home, as reported by Times of India.
