Royal Challengers Bengaluru, one of the most high-profile teams in the Indian Premier League is all set to announce their captain for the 2025 edition on Thursday, February 13. The announcement was made after the third ODI between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Star Sports Network. The name will be revealed at 11.30 AM IST as mentioned by Abhinav Mukund in the post-match program of 3rd ODI on Star Sports.
RCB is one of the most popular franchises in IPL despite not winning a single trophy so far and one of the main reasons for it is the presence of Virat Kohli. The Indian star led the franchise from 2013 to 2021, and after some wholesale changes ahead of the IPL 2025, Kohli has emerged as one of the front-runners to take over the captaincy again.
Rajat Patidar And Virat Kohli In Race To Lead RCB In IPL 2025
The other cricketer who is in line to lead the franchise in the upcoming edition is Rajat Patidar. He was one of the star performers for RCB in the last cycle under the leadership of Faf du Plessis and has also played for India. Keeping in mind the future and Rajat's recent experience as captain of Madhya Pradesh, the franchise might also take a bold decision of going with a younger player instead of Virat Kohli.
In the last cycle, Faf du Plessis led Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the franchise managed to qualify for the playoffs in all three seasons. However, they could not lift the title, and RCB fans would be hoping that the new captain with a renewed arsenal can finally bring home the IPL glory in the 2025 edition.
